Sabot is the official name of clogs made in France.   Leather shoes were expensive and couldn't be worn on farms so these clogs were worn by the rural and trade population.  Stuff these clogs with straw and they become cozy and warm.  The detailed leather band is everything!  

The true handmade craftsmanship of these shoes is astounding.  Oh, the stories they could tell.
